HeartMindHand Manifesto

We believe that everyone can
  • be their own healer
  • creatively express themselves
  • accelerate and deepen their learning
  • improve their emotional intelligence

It all starts in the body. And knowing how to use it.

Using the body with awareness and intention, you can learn about and improve yourself. Then you can interact with others and the world in a more sustainable way.

But today's sedentary, screen-focused lifestyle has left our bodies underutilized and undervalued. It has eroded real connection in favor of virtual acquaintance. It has distracted us from the natural world.

HeartMindHand provides coaching and practical skills training in 6 areas to help learners become more resilient, independent, and capable.

HeLICES: the Six Pillars of HeartMindHand

What's the origin of the name HeartMindHand?

It's taken from the name of a martial art (心意拳 Pron: xinyiquan lit. heart/mind intention fist/boxing) (See our beginner course in this martial art here)
Regarding the fist as only one shape the hand can make, we expanded the concept to the hand.
The hand represents the body in HeartMindHand, which symbolizes Body and Mind working together.
There are three areas of wellbeing HeartMindHand seeks to address - Physical, Mental, and Emotional
It represents the sequence from feeling → intention → action
If your actions have healthy feelings and intentions, then you can act with compassion, awareness, and wisdom.

Sandy McLeod

Founder and Principal Trainer

Hi I'm Sandy,

For over 20 years, in many different fields, I have found the body to be the key to improving my self-knowledge, resilience, and capability in life.
The importance of the body is the common thread that runs through my experiences with martial arts, massage, teaching and learning (languages in particular), stage, radio/podcast, and emotional intelligence.
I started HeartMindHand because I wanted to share the wonderful experiences and insights I have had learning about the body and its power over the last few decades.
I wish you improved self-reliance, wellness, and clarity of communication.
